How do I choose a company to replace my new windows, doors or install a new conservatory?
When any of us embark on a project, the hardest decision is finding a company we can trust to carry out the works to an excellent standard at a fair price.
So how do you find such a company?
Asking around and getting referrals from friends’ family and neighbours is a great start. However, this should only be part of the process.
Check them out first before making contact to be sure. Look at their website, does it show the products your looking for, does it give clear information about how it operates or what guarantees it offers.
Then look at independent vetting web sites, like www.checkatrade.co.uk or www.trustedtraders.which.co.uk, have they carried out many installations, do they have a high satisfaction rate, what do other people say about them.
Once you are happy, a really important step before you call them out is to be a mystery shopper, go to their showroom for a browse. See how tidy it is, are the products on display, how do you get treated, is there any pressure. If you’re comfortable then you can request a survey.
If you do all the above, when you invite them in your house for a quote, they will be polite professional and not pressure you on making a decision.
But before signing up to anything get a full written quote, with a breakdown of each product with a picture and specification so you can be sure they have interpreted what you want.
Finally take your time and sleep on the decision before signing.
I can guarantee if you go through these steps you will find a company who won’t let you down.
